Continuing the series of articles describing an upcoming “World” upgrade for the MegaCryptoPolis decentralized city builder game with introduction of custom interiors players will be able create in their unique buildings.
Interiors are the important part of MegaCryptoPolis transformation to a metaverse being actual storefronts to present NFTs on a scarce gaming map.
World upgrade will enable players to enter buildings with their Citizens as avatars to explore custom interiors created by others. That could be the perfect place to display crypto art and unique objects created in the game, offer services and rare NFTs for sale or just furnish a lovely environment to hang out in the virtual city with friends.
Interiors are represented by Blocks which Custom Buildings are made of. Each Block has it’s own unique interior that can be used to store and display Objects. Interior size totally depends on a Block size — there will be options for Blocks starting from small ones (6x6 parcels) to Huge (24x12) and Mega (up to 36x36).
Several Blocks in a building may be used as independent apartments or as rooms of a single detached house. Doors and Lifts can be placed inside Blocks to create predefined routes for a visitor going from one Block to another.
A Block can be Public, Private (accessible with invitation) or Corporate (available only to members of a Corporation). Block’s owner will have the total control of who’s able to enter and interact with objects contained within.
Players exploring the virtual city will be able to choose a Block to visit — a list of available Blocks in a building will appear once the building’s entrance is approached by a Citizen:
A player can build his own Custom Building with as many Blocks as needed or acquire a Key for a Block in a Custom Building contracted by other player. Keys are NFTs that can be rented, traded or gifted. There is no limit on how many apartments a player may have.
Constructing a Custom Building will require Resources — most basic ones for small Blocks and tons of Steel for Huge and Mega interiors. Also the amount of Resources required to add a Block will raise with the every next floor.
There will be a limit on maximum amount of floors a Custom Building may have depending on the number of land plots connected for a building, however, Resources limitations will come first in most cases.
Building the developer’s dream — find a precious location on the gaming map to construct the rarest Penthouses with extraordinary views to let or sale.
That will make sure top floor interiors created from largest Blocks (normally we’ll call ’em Penthouses) will not only have the best views but undoubtfully hold a higher minimal price tag.
Every new player will be given a tiny private apartment in the Main Tower (absolutely for free) to start the game with.
Aside of its size, there will be some limitations on available customizations for the apartment — so, a player may be willing to find a more spacious Block in the city then.
The private apartment can be accessed via the lifts in the Main Tower lobby.
Main Tower Lobby
The place to start the game for every new player. Features Concierge, Storefronts (those will be the most iconic World’s NFTs after Astronauts), Governance Hall, a free Workbench to craft items and lifts to access private apartments.
MCP World playable demo scheduled for March 15, 2021.
The upcoming World Demo will allow to enter the Main Tower Lobby — visit Mayor’s office with incredible panorama and check how NFT objects are displayed in the interior.
There are three major types of Objects to be placed inside Blocks:
- Decoration — collectable items to decorate an interior, can be anything from furniture to statue;
- Functional — an object a player can interact with, for example a piano to enable music in apartment, an Easel to draw NFT pictures, a laptop to invite a friend;
- Metaverse objects — NFT representing a piece of crypto art or an item from other project, just like adorable unique CryptoKitties.
Exclusive Robo CryptoKitties NFTs created during the co-promo campaign with Dapper Labs will be presented in the Mayor’s office in the World Demo.
As a part of a new game tutorial players will be guided on creating their first NFT objects to decorate the private apartment.
Players will be able to create new NFT objects using a Workbench.
Recopies and Materials required for crafting could be found on the gaming map or collected during missions (spoiler — missions will be given in regular MCP3D buildings like Residentials, Production, Municipals etc.).
Workbench is also an NFT object that can be crafted to be placed in your Block. A public Workbench will be available for all the players in the Main Tower Lobby.
Objects with unique textures will be considered Rare, Epic or Legendary. Most objects will require only basic materials that could be found while exploring the gaming map. However, in order to create a really rare and remarkable object a complex materials as well as some $WORLD needed.
Created by a player, an object may become extremely valuable due to its rarity, visual characteristics or a place on the gaming map it was first offered for sale.
More on Crafting to be published in the 6th Chapter.
